Microsoft Teams and OneNote

Take notes in Microsoft Teams using OneNote.

Using Microsoft OneNote in conjunction Teams has been available for some time, but as Microsoft has recently announced that it will be retiring the Wiki feature in Teams, OneNote will now become the primary method for note taking and curating this information.

What happens to Teams Wiki information?

The update will be rolled out starting mid-February 2023. Teams users have the option to export their wiki content to OneNote notebooks and then use the Notes tab to collaborate using OneNote in channels. Users can continue to access and edit existing wikis but can't create new wikis in Teams channels.

While current wikis can continue to be used, we expect the feature to be fully retired in the future and encourage users to move to OneNote.

What does OneNote offer?

OneNote provides a more sophisticated note taking experience with rich editing, annotations, highlighting, file attachments, and all channel notes can be viewed in one place organized within a single notebook .

OneNote notebooks can be easily searched, shared and collaborated on within Teams or OneNote across the Microsoft 365 platform and all the device apps.
