LinkedIn integrated into Teams

Microsoft Teams will begin to integrate LinkedIn into its operation, starting with the ability to view colleagues' profiles on the professional social networking site. The new LinkedIn tab will appear at the top of the 1:1 conversation in Teams alongside the existing tabs for Chat, Files, Organization and Activity, and will work like the contact card does in Outlook.

According to Microsoft, this is the first part of a series of updates. Initially this is limited to contacts within the organisation, but as the contact card updates are released, then this will be available for all contacts within and outside the business.

In 2016, Microsoft bought LinkedIn for $26.2-billion with the express aim ' to grow the professional networking site and integrate it with Microsoft's enterprise software, such as Office 365.' The purchase has allowed Microsoft to reach LinkedIn's huge user base and put Microsoft's sales force behind the successful business social network.
