Ransomware and what to do

As with the recent TravelEx incident, businesses of all sizes can find themselves severely damaged by serious ransomware or cyber-attack. These are a result of a direct hack or often malware in email and attachments.

Is the email in a tone and style you'd expect? Are your internal emails really from your colleagues? Attackers will even register domain names that look like your domain to trick you, such as www.stridennt.co.uk (notice the extra 'n'?)

Detailed impersonation attacks aim to trick users. The attackers pretend to be senior business managers instructing colleagues to transfer money or release information to the attackers' account.
