A successful Microsoft Teams event brought new and existing customers to our offices at Claydon Court, all keen to find out more about Microsoft Teams and what it could do for them. By the end of an interactive presentation it was clear that even current Teams users did not realise the extensive functionality that Teams offers.
Encouraging users to reduce their reliance on Outlook and email was popular comment among business managers at the breakfast meeting and all agreed it need to be a managed process. Chris Joberns, managing director at Strident, recommended businesses carefully consider their processes before moving their data in a logical manner. "Teams works best by grouping colleagues into similar-tasked teams and then providing the necessary assets, files and permissions to that team. Users can be a member of more than one Team, which helps them stay organised."
Teams really helps on on-boarding situations, such as a new salesperson, providing them all the necessary files and communications without them wasting time 'searching the system.'
The growing sophistication of Teams telephone facility, powered by the inclusion of Skype for Business within Teams, impressed attendees who could see immediate benefits of intelligent call routing and reduced call costs.
"Teams allows you to make both internal and external calls easily. Teams-to-Teams users can make free calls using VoIP (Skype) and it's easy to call non-Teams users over the regular telephone network using pre-purchased 'call-plan minutes'. Call-plan minutes can easily be shared across users and increased or decreased on a month-by-month basis as the business need dictate," added Chris.
