For August our Silver Awards go to the following good causes; Lighthouse Club, Sane and Prostate Cancer UK.

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides financial and emotional support to the construction community and their families who have suffered an injury or long term illness or just need some extra support. The charity is a Strident customer and provides a 24 /7 helpline which is the first point of contact to access a range of completely free and confidential support services including financial aid, welfare advice and legal, tax and debt management matters. Last year, the Construction Industry Helpline supported 1500 families in crisis and 400 construction families were delivered a total of £735,000 in emergency financial aid.
SANE is a leading UK mental health charity and works to improve the quality of life for anyone affected by mental illness. SANE was nominated by Strident Finance Director, Carissa Wyatt, who also raised money for the charity by completing the AJ Bell Triathlon in London. "Mental health is now becoming widely recognised as an important issue and it's great that those affected have support."

Prostate Cancer UK was the first national organisation for prostate cancer in the UK. Its aim is to improve the care and welfare of those affected by prostate cancer, increase investment in research, and raise public and political awareness of a long-neglected disease. In the last 20 years, we've invested over £37 million into ground breaking research, and continue to provide award-winning support for men.
"It's subject close to my ... err... heart," says Strident engineer, Peter Rumbold, who nominated the charity. "Prostate cancer can affect men at any age and Prostate Cancer UK is investing in research to tackle it."
