New faces on the Strident helpdesk team

Two new faces expand our helpdesk team

Due to continued business growth, we have taken on two new helpdesk engineers to expand our support team to 10. Jake Baalham and Stuart Rodger have joined as part of a recent recruitment drive by Strident.

"A positive, friendly and professional attitude is the key requirement we look for. Great customer service is essential, and our helpdesk engineers need that approach from day one. All the necessary IT skills can then be learned." explains Chris Joberns, Managing Director.

"Both Jake and Stuart have a good understanding of customer service from their previous work. They are at the start of their IT careers, so they'll be mentored by senior engineers and then we will support them as they move through the Microsoft engineer certification programme. I'm sure they both do well."

Stuart Rodger previously worked as a cinema Manager, which saw him manage a small team a help run the cinema. "That role showed me the importance of customer service and working as a team," said Stuart.

The role also had a significant technical element thanks to the modern way cinema content is distributed. "Of course, all films are now supplied digitally, and the technology doesn't always run smoothly. Time-sensitive protection software for films was a key issue and not all films are protected the same way, so some technical problem-solving could be required. It was an aspect of the job I really enjoyed, so as an IT support engineer, I'm really building on that. It's a career I'm really looking forward to developing."

Jake Baalham has joined Strident from college where he was studying electronics and computer science. Having worked from 15 as kitchen porter then as a chef at a local hotel, Jake understands the importance of getting things done on time.

"Technology and computers have always been a passion of mine and it was great to get to do this at college. However, I felt I wanted to do more practical training alongside the theory of college," explains Jake. Having secured this role, Jake has taken a break from college. "I'm enjoying working with the helpdesk team and getting to grips with real IT issues. My plan is to complete my degree in computer science working at college from home, a little bit like an apprenticeship. It's a great working environment at Strident and everyone is very supportive."
