As Ipswich-based law firm, Michael Smith & Co Solicitors, expanded it became clear that it needed an IT support company that would meet its growing needs and future plans. They asked a number of IT support companies to tender and make recommendations and chose Strident.
"Following a meeting with Strident at my previous employer, I attended Strident's GDPR presentation. I was impressed by their expertise and proactive approach, helping and advising people ahead of the GDPR deadline," explains Sue Maxfield, Practice Manager for Michael Smith & Co.
Sue, who has recently joined the law firm as practice manager, was keen to review and strengthen some of the firm's IT processes. "Data security is important to all businesses, but as solicitors we need to continuously demonstrate that we have our information and our customers' information properly protected," states Sue.
In addition to the traditional safeguards, such as antivirus and antispam programs, Sue has reviewed the company's data processes and permissions. "This is important to ensure that only those who need the information have access to it, but it also allows us the flexibility to change colleagues access, for example, if roles were to change or if someone left," she explains.
Bringing in Strident has allowed the law firm to review the way they work. "Changing to a new IT support company and changing the way we operate has meant requesting a lot work to be done but I'm really pleased with the support we've had from Strident.
"It has enabled me to educate our staff at MS following the various changes, by increasing their awareness of IT security and so allowing the whole team to take more of the responsibility for safer working practices," adds Sue.
Looking to the future, Sue is interested in moving more of the firm's data to the cloud for increased flexibility and productivity. As Microsoft Gold Partners, Strident has managed more than 1600 Office 365 migrations helping business move their data to a more productive and collaborative environment.
"We already use an online case management system, so we understand the value of having our data in the cloud. We are reviewing moving more of our data to Office 365 starting with our email and Strident has the expertise to help us do that."
