Microsoft Intune manages all your corporate devices and apps

Posted on: 25 May 16

Keeping control of all the smartphones, tablets and PCs in your business is hard enough but keeping track of all the apps on them and the corporate data they are accessing can be huge problem. Fortunately, there is a solution that we are recommending to our IT Support customers; Microsoft Intune.

Microsoft Intune provides mobile device management, mobile application management, and PC management capabilities, all from the cloud. And as Microsoft Gold Partners in Suffolk, Strident has the expertise to install Intune and the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility suite and ensure you get the most out of it.

What can I use Microsoft Intune for?

Using Intune, businesses can provide their employees with access to corporate applications, data, and resources from virtually anywhere on almost any device, while helping to keep corporate information secure.

This means staff can access corporate data, such as email and documents, on work and personal devices including PCs. The IT administrator can quickly see which devices an employee is using and what data they are accessing.

Is Intune easy to use?

Once Intune is installed, your business will have its own Company Portal on the web. Employees simply use this portal to register the device they wish to use and install the corporate applications they want.

Intune comprises three key sections;
• Mobile device management (MDM)
• Mobile application management (MAM)
• PC management

Although Intune is available as a stand-alone product, it is tightly integrated in Office 365. So if your business is using Office 365, you’re already half-way to secure management system.

Mobile device management (MDM) provides secure management of personal and business-owned devices across the most popular platforms, including Windows, Windows Phone, iOS, and Android. You can restrict users from accessing corporate resources on an non-enrolled or non-compliant device.

Two-factor authentication is available and an authorisation code will be sent to a trusted device when a new device tries to log on. You can also perform remote actions such as passcode reset, device lock, data encryption, or full wipe of a lost or stolen device.

Mobile Application Management (MAM) is ideal when staff are using personal devices. Devices are registered but not enrolled for management, keeping corporate data safe but not intruding on a user’s personal life.

With Microsoft Intune, manageability and data protection is built directly into the Office mobile apps, restricting actions such as copy, cut, paste, and save as between Intune-managed apps and personal apps.

PCs can also be managed via Microsoft Intune, providing a comprehensive single solution for managing all devices. PCs, Macs, and UNIX/Linux servers, as well as mobile devices, all from a single management console.

Businesses can protect against malware threats on managed computers, collect information about hardware configurations and software installed on managed computers, and simplify software deployment and PC configuration.

Microsoft Intune is a valuable security system designed for modern businesses operating in a flexible, mobile manner. To find out more, call our IT Support team and we will be happy to demonstrate Intune to you.
